The BOLLOCKS continues but happily now with a few small insertions of reality - is this quantum funnelling, or what the feck.......

As I said in another thread, or may be earlier in this one, Quantum tunnelling has nothing to do with conductors even if it is relevant to semiconductors.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was not aware that connecting a Faraday Cage to earth stopped it acting as a Faraday Cage (I do understand that it does not need to be connected to earth to act as a Faraday Cage), however I did ask the question to be sure that you meant it to be left floating as I guessed that was what you probably meant.

I had thought that connecting the armour to my earth spike (I'm on a TT system out in the country) just at the consumer unit end would be unlikely to be detrimental (but wanted to understand your experience).

Also, does it not need to be connected to comply with IET wiring regulations, bonding rules etc.

Not quite sure what quantum funnelling bollocks has got to do with my question?

Cheers. Bill

Looks like I posted it to the wrong thread, it should have been to TAS thread.

Just connect it to nothing, its purpose is strength and protection the cable from damage, nothing more so no connections to anything. As an obvious to me by product is it acting as a Faraday cage which seems to be only me commenting, probably 'cos others don't understand.

I understand the Faraday Cage concept well enough, having taken a Cat R license in the 1980s, but why comment when you have said all that is required.
