Mains RF

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

First stop if you are getting noise on the primary or the secondary side is ferrite rings, cheap and can be very effective.

Noise is still the big culprit with racks and people who haven't got positioning of system right.

Thanks for this Doc, I will be ordering on Friday.

Still getting noise in mains. Better with the BMU in mind you. Thanks for the tips on that too.

Ditto here, as they are so cheap they are well worth trying.

I've been using these for twenty five years (few forum members took any notice whenever I mentioned them) and I found them effective - and they're easily removed too... The first one on a mains cable makes the biggest difference I found, the subsequent effectiveness reducing with each additional one..

One thing I did to what I felt was advantage - Long before I knew of NVA interconnects I bought Mark Grant HD1500 cables (and an HD1000 cheap used). These are chunky rf-grade cables and I wondered if they'd respond with a ferrite on each (as the Chord Solid did for me). I thought they did and if they didn't sound like the Klotz before, they certainly do much closer now.. The SSC is a different matter though and these are left well alone here ;)
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
