On another note, my Cambridge Audio CD5 that is paired up with my AP20 and B&W CM1 speakers (1st order crossover....honestly) has developed a skip at exactly the same time on any cd played on it. That to me suggests that there is some crap on the rails the laser block runs up and down on. Either that or the grease has dried out in a blob at that point.

Looks like some surgery and cleaning is required. I think i have some fresh grease that is safe on plastic and will have to remember not to put too much on  The thing doesn't owe me anything as i bought it from Richer Sounds in 2001 and it didn't cost much. Been faultless apart from this.
