THat's a good point, actually, because not only do you have to buy extra cable(s) you've got to find more room to route them.

I've got a Wyrd, and an Oehlnach reclocker (when it gets back from Germany this week) in my chain, and I picked up 0.5m and 0.3m Wireworkd Starlight 7 cables on eBay, which I'd targeted deliberately.

It is another factor you need to take into consideration. You'll probably (depending on your layout) need the shortest cables you can buy. AudioQuest's shortest length for a USB A / USB B cable is 0.75m a.f.a.i.k.

The Purifier 3 arrived yesterday, simple plug in and play. Did not have a chance to listen, but the look is impressive and it is quite weighty. Can see why it costs three times as much as the Jitterbug. Well packsged with accessories I do not need and a lot of bumph you need a magnifying glass to read. The judgement which matters will be on how it sounds.

Yaaaaaaaaay! The Oehlbach's bach... I mean back. Good news, I've just bunged it in and music is playing, it's not hot, and has a nice blue LED this time.

The chain is currently ATB-->Oehlbach-->Schiit Wyrd-->DAC
The USB cables from ATB to Wyrd are both Wireworld Starlight 7, with an AQ Carbon between the Wyrd and the DAC

The 2011 remaster of Animals is sounding pretty decent at first blush, perhaps a bit "clinical" but that might just be me. No more pronouncements until I've given it a sound thrashing i.e. thrashed it with sound.

FWIW I've also removed the AQ Jitterbug. I can always bugger about with that once te main components have settled down and got to know each other.

AQ Carbon is now in my sights for the Wyrd - DAC link in my setup. Still pondering.

Interested to hear if there are differences in the Oehlbach and Wyrd if one or the other is taken out of the chain. Lots to play with there, Slinger.

To be honest, I'm not sure I can be arsed to swap the Wyrd, and the Oehlbach, in and out of the system listening for differences. I just want to listen to some music until I break the whole system down and rebuild it on it's new base, when I get around to installing that. I'll also (finally) be replacing the speaker cables with AudioQuest Indigo Blue.

I immediately noticed that the i Purifier 3 brought about a slight improvement, but that was nothing compared to how it was sounding last night and now. Obviously some running in is required. My expectations have been exceeded and it seems to be enhancing what the Mscaler does as the gains are in the same areas, expansion of the sound stage and bass definition. It is plugged into and powered by the Mscaler. I dont know exactly what is going on but my theory is that the removal of digital muck entering the Mscaler is improving the reproduction of transients. I have read reports of it improving the sound of Chord DACs, but not with a Mscaler in the set up. I believe the benefits with the Mscaler are considerably more. To my ears and in the context of my system I consider it a bargain. I wonder if things will get even better after more hours. I am over the moon with this little gizmo.
