TBH I haven't revisited it yet. I'm going through a "lazy" phase at the moment. I get spells like this when (Oh! The horror!) I can't even be arsed to listen to music. Silent reading and crap telly are the orders of the day. Oh, and talking bollox on forums, obviously.

Experimenting with sampling rates in Volumio. Tried 192KHz which was very smooth but slightly veiled. The resampling circuit in the DAC was operating again and has a tiny impact on SQ.

The 96KHz setting for PC output creates a synchronistic magic with the Chameleon that is blowing me away.

Increasing Volumio audio buffer size to 8Mb has improved stability as well.

:music-listen:

Pondering on an HQ headphone rig based around the Acer PC, fan-noise won't be an issue there.

I've just had a quick browse on eBay and I picked up an MSI Cubi 2 1.7Ghz Celeron with 4Mb of memory it's got all USB 3 ports, and an HDMI socket too. It'll even take a second SSD should I feel that way inclined, and it has two memory slots. The only downside is that it's fan-cooled, but that shouldn't be a problem from my usual listening position. Apparently the fan has a low noise level of only 23.7 dB, as "quiet as a forest."
TIMBERRRRRRRRRRR!!!

If the worst (still) comes to the worst it'll make a decent stand-alone KODI box project, as it supports HD and 4K (3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz).

The oehlbach XXL masterclock has made a big difference in my system - so much more musical than the jitterbug version. Get one!

My little MSI briquette turned up today.
I'm just waiting for the 8GB of Kingston HyperX Impact memory I've ordered for it now.

Just got a second one for use with the AQ Dragonfly Red and my laptop.
I find that the Oehlbach Masterclock is more vivid and detailed than the Schiit Wyrd.

The MSI Cubi has had its memory upgraded. I've flashed Volumio to a brand new 8GB Verbatim USB drive, and Volumio has been set up and has just started importing albums from my two NAS drives. The little 7" touch screen I bought was invaluable in helping me set up first Windows and then altering the bios to boot from the USB drive.

When the importing has finished I'll reboot Volumio and then attempt to load the Volunio OS onto the Cubi's internal drive.

Hoorah! Volumio has successfully booted from the Cubi, and music is playing.
