Well I've ordered the mini fanless pc Mr Fretless linked to
and also one of these
I needed something to play my music from a HD and were I'm sitting is on the other side of the room to the eqipment. I have been using my laptop which means I can't use it while listening to music. I've also purchased a new amp since my TPA 3116 has packed up. I do pay a bit more to get this stuff to Cambodia but nothing like the shipping fees quoted on Amazon. There is someone here who orders everything through Amazon.com.

Nice work there on the purchases. Hope that setting it up goes smoothly.

It will be 3-4 weeks until they arrive, but for now I thought I would just download Foobar 2000, which is on my laptop, and when I return to the uk (who knows when that will be, they're all in lockdown) I may well bring it back with me and get some help installing Volumio.

Cambodia?

Yes I stay in Phnom Penh, love it over here, cheap and you never get cold. Ok, not to everyone's taste, but I find it relaxing. Very quiet now with no extra tourists coming in, or at least very few.

Phnom Penh sounds interesting and better than a lot of places I can think of

It’s a never ending quest (game) to be happy with my streaming components.
I’ve been through a few items recently but like the simplicity of the current setup-
iPhone 6s with lightning to usb 3 camera adapter to AQ jitterbug to little dot Dac1.
The weak link is my usb cable to dac.
Looking at prices of cables etc versus Oehlbach XXL MasterClock at £119 uk stock will this give me better sound per pound than an upmarket cable of similar value- I have a decent psu for the Oehlbach if needed
Cheers peter

Oehlbach Masterclock is 74 euro (ex p&p) from their webshop.

https://www.oehlbach.com/en/audio-equip ... asterclock

It does respond well to better cables and there are many to choose from: Wireworld, Blue Jeans, Audioquest and DH Labs for instance.

I finally decided to go the whole hog with usb jitter correction
USB 3 hub into AQ jitterbug Silver USB cable into XXL masterclock XXL DC supply from linear PSU Then silver cable into Ifi Ipurifier3 plugged directly into back of DAC.

Big Difference with overall sound quality in Depth of Soundstage Clarity of Vocals Large reduction in harshness during loud passages of music and greater bass definition. I was surprised with the Linear power supply improvement and also the Ifi Ipurifier contribution.
I suppose its a bit OTT but it now sounds like I have a much better DAC.
Thanks to contributors who started me on this track.

Now to save up for an R2R ladder Dac :) :)

Nice work Ruffra.

Might have to look at an LPSU for the Masterclock, myself.

The iFi Purifier brought about a noticable improvement to my system, bookending the DH Labs Mirage with a AQ JB.
