Replaced the thin white flat cable between the Router and Pi with some Cat 8 stuff off ebay. Its very rigid, much thicker and has gold plated plugs. I thought it was a noticable improvement, for just over a tenner definatley worth a go.
Deeper bass, more presence etc. TBH, had a bit of a 'wow wasnt expecting that' moment. No idea as to why but there you go.

Good move Trev. Seems that moving up to Cat8 for streamers is a cheap and effective upgtade for us all.

AirPort Extreme installed to replace the previous switch- all good- thought to myself ‘ that sounds good’ then realised I had my “2nd” speakers playing (as I have been upgrading tweeters in my main ones)- these were light in comparison but there is an improved fullness to the sound- can’t wait to hook up the main speakers again.
For £24 I have a switch and WiFi extender as required- will look at the models with a hard drive if they could store music and be easily access via Apple TV box

The Chord Company have announced that they will be launching an audiophile ethernet network switch later this year under the 'English Electric' name.

Expected price 400-500 pounds.

I am so glad i dont have to worry about such things. The distance between the decoder and dac chip in my cdp is about 3cm. No extra chips required., or cables for that matter. Dont let me stop you though guys

Streaming has a huge advantage over other means of play back in that the source contains nothing mechanical. It has its own issues, documented on threads like this, but IMO these are far less. The cumulative impact of the upgrades and tweeks I have made to the digital signal path this year have made a big difference to the musical experience, on top of the A80 mk3 upgrade. I am a happy bunny.
