Re: Houdini
I think it has been in development for a while. I read somewhere that it comes from his statement arm.

Have you never thought "what if..."?Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 11:26 am Why do you look for a new wife, hammer or job.
Dissatisfaction or inquisition.
Believing that a 300 quid insert between cartridge and tonearm can transform your system is ludicrous. If you are open to the idea than ipso facto you are dissatisfied.
And finally 'I won't trouble the forum with my reasons'
One doesn't have to be dissatisfied to ask questions or to try new things. A few years back I bought an Olympus camera because I thought I wanted something smaller. As an experiment it failed; it was too small and the viewfinder didn't give the information I needed. I sold it and bought a Nikon D4. I wasn't unhappy with the Nikon D3 I had but I thought a smaller camera might mean I carried it more often. I was asking a question and I got an answer.
Hi-Fi is supposed to be fun. If you don't experiment you won't get the best speaker placement, the music can sound great but you keep moving the speakers around anyway just to be sure.
Let other people scratch their itches and tell us their results, you don't have to play if you don't want to.

You can experiment on things that make a difference. Believing that this 300 devise will make your system better as oppossed to different is ludicrous.

I would look for a new wife, hammer or job only if I lost the old one, or through necessity.Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 11:26 am Why do you look for a new wife, hammer or job.

People are happy to spend thousands on a new cartridge that makes a little difference over their old one, but dismissing a £300 device that may give your bigger gains without hearing it is completely up to you. I am not going to to try and convince you otherwise.
However, your statement that I am dissatisfied with my system in nonsense, in my honest opinion.
Funk Firm have released some interesting products in the past, and it is for this reason I wanted to try one.

Re: Houdini
Actually, I missed an important point.
DQ is saying that £300 is expensive, and then compares it to changing the wife.
Never done it myself, but I hear it is not cheap....

When I see a product of any description at an extortionate price promoted by forum posters who have received it well below the retail price it sets alarm bells ringing. One to avoid.

I thought of the Houdini and thought of this.

Re: Houdini
I am not promoting it.
I am not happy that mine is £300 though, compared to the £105 others were offered it at.
I have the invoice to prove it, but I am not posting that online.

Re: Houdini
My last post on this subject, unless someone asks me a specific question about it.
The Denon DL103 problem seems to be an end user induced ID 10 T error.
I refitted the 103, as it was bugging me that it did not work. I have increased the bias setting, and it seems to work.
I guess it is time I learnt how to set up a turntable correctly.
