AP30

Unread post by Ordinaryman »

For anyone that have seen my previous posts, this little amp came my way via another member here. It has been interesting, this is the first NVA amp I have owned and so I have little comparison other than the other amps that I own. Don't feel the need to tell you about timing, space etc. I think its sufficient to say Its good  (DQ) its different, and in my book better . Combined with the longdog phono and cubetts it really sings. Trouble is I'm now starting to think maybe the Ls7 on sale here could bring more?....Help Would that just be overkill, or just dissatisfaction?

I went from LS1 to LS5, amazing improvement over something that was good. Go for it if you can afford it!

Whether it's better or different will depend on what you had before.

My 1980's vintage NVA A40 stereo amp responded very well to upgraded cabling (SSP and LS5). You will hear improvements on any NVA setup as the circuitry gets room to 'breathe' and function at its best.

All NVA amps are transparent and musical - the cabling will help to reveal that.

I have found that upgrading NVA cabeling, both speaker and interconnector, has a very pronounced effect. This was most marked on the main system but also significant on the second system. My experience is that cables have a far greater effect on the sound of NVA amps than other makes I have owned.
Main System
NVA BMU, P90SA/A80s (latest spec), Cube 1s, TIS, TISC(LS7)
Sonore OpticalRendu, Chord Mscaler & Qutest, Sbooster PSs
Network Acoustics Eno, ifi iPurifier3, AQ JB FMJ, Cisco 2940 & 2960
DH Labs ethernet, BNC & USB cables, Lindy cat 6 US ethernet cable

Second System
NVA P20/ A20, Cubettes, LS3, SSP, SC
Sonore MicroRendu, Chord Mojo 2 MCRU PSs, AQ Carbon USB cable & JB FMJ

Headphones
Grado SR325e/Chord Mojo, Beyerdynamic Avetho/AQ DF Colbat

RIP Doc

ime the LS7 will give you more weight, texture, transparency.

The cost of the silver base wires for LS7 has just jumped up AGAIN (they are 30% more expensive than this time last year!!) and one set takes a whole day to make, so the current brand new price will have to change sooner rather than later.

See if you can get them on 7 day trial (30 days not necessary if they are already burned in).

Unfortunately just been checking how long my current cables are ,( should have done so earlier) and they are 2.5. thought they were 2mtr. I don't think 1.8 would work as they would end up stretched tight between amp and speakers. Sorry to have wasted everyone's time.
