A passive means a stage of gain has been lost from the active pre-amp into the Threshold. I can give it him back by increasing the gain in the Phono2.

Thank you Doc, I assumed that would be the case to some extent. Earlier I was looking for the thread where you briefly described the differences between Phono 2 and Phono 3 and how changing power supplies affects things but couldn't find it. Does anyone know where it is please?

Hi Doc, I'm sorry I haven't been able to find the thread I referred to above. Would you tell me how the sound changes from Phono 2 to Phono 3 if both are powered by two standard PSU's please? Sadly I can't fit the BBPSU's under the bottom shelf of my record rack as it stands at the moment - I have exactly 150mm clearance which I think is the height of the BBPSU without feet if I remember right? I've decided to go for one or the other straight away, just need to decide between them. Will then try to sort out enough height for the bigger power supplies at a later date.

Many thanks

Same as sound changes from Phono1 to Phono2 it is an upgrade. The BPSU can be used on its side, and supplied without feet, or feet put on the side. They are just glued.

Hi,

just joined the Forum today and was wondering if I could borrow the Phono 2 with both PSU's, I once had a loan of the Phono 2 with 1 PSU from DSJR a couple of years ago and thought it was very good, I didn't buy one at the time as I was busy box swapping and my system is now very different.

Zyx R100 Low Output cart in use presently.

If you require any further info about myself I can PM you more details if needed.

Thanks,

Mike.
