Shame about the CXC, I love mine, it was very good straight out of the box combined with a Topping D30, I have since added a P50 PSU and sorbothane feet both of which made a positive difference.
As for second hand Linn Kanns making £300ish, well to my mind/ears that's insane. I never liked them back in the day but these things are always subjective and it's not my money so I hope the buyers are happy.

Yeah, I should have paid the extra £80 and got it brand new rather than 'refurbished'. The lack of response has put me off, though, and I had to convince myself in the first place as every Cambridge DAC I've heard has been dire, to my ears.

Put a good LSPU on a Cambridge Dacmagic Plus and you do have an excellent-sounding DAC.

Hopefully just a temporary blip, but, anyways, phoned a friend in the 2nd hand trade, picked up an old Arcam CDP with the Sony transport and uprated power supplies and clock, for half that. Will do the job...

£65 including shipping, but a £21 customs charge (inc. £8 handling fee). Just under 2 weeks to arrive - the customs malarkey added 2 days.
Up and running within 30 seconds - couldn't be simpler.
Quite surprising - more natural sound compared to USB input on SMSL M8. Very obviously cleaned up voices, and timbre is definitely better - even on radio streams.
Going to give it a spin in the main (home) system over the weekend...
