Nice list, The Flock - love that album.
'Half Moon Run' are new to me, just had a quick listen - shades of Alt-J and Midlake - worth looking out for, thanks.

A raid on Bandcamp this week.
(All Digital downloads).

Adam Ben Ezra "Solo Album" - double bass gets the hammering on and loop station treatment.

[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2AxSIoz ... CF4481E826[/BBvideo]

Download occasionally sounds a bit harsh to me.

Thought this one might be a find for Yorkshire, but it's Nova Scotia indie/folky although he'd from the UK, apparently.

Jont "Hello Halifax"

[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1HLUbuXCZw[/BBvideo]

Sounds like it's recorded to tape (or tape hiss introduced).

GoGo Penguin "V.2"

[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REwNxxd1qgI[/BBvideo]

Sticking errors and all. (Maybe they're deliberate). At first listen, my favourite of this batch.

They have an interesting mix of young and old members these days - but, alas, no Jan Akkerman.
Hope you have a good time.
Last night, went to small venue in Devizes, Wiltshire to see Focus with My mate, Nigel. What an absolutely brilliant evening and the best gig I have really enjoyed for quite a long time. They did two longish stints mixing old favourites with new music.

I thoroughly recommend going to see them if you have the opportunity. They have gigs in March next year and ticket prices are very reasonable. Also, some of these gigs are shared with Hawkwind.

All the musicians present as highly skilled and their current guitarist, Menno Gootjes has some very special skills firmly in the influence of Pat Metheny. In conversation, he told Nigel he was a Metheny fan.

I saw Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters at the Cambridge corn exchange a couple of weeks ago. Superb - new material has (what I interpret as) north African/Celtic/folk/blues influences, and the different treatments of Led Zep' classics were far better than I could have hoped for. Best concert I have been to in years in terms of opening up my appreciation of different musical styles.
Plant's voice also sounded even better than I remember, admittedly based on rather addled memories of Led Zeppelin at Knebworth many years ago. He seems to be more relaxed and willing/able to use his voice as an instrument.
If you get a chance, go and see him even if Led Zep' weren't your cup of tea.

Now looking forward to seeing Seasick Steve at Norwich in the new year

After a long and exhausting evening rehearsing Christmas carols with my choir I'm relaxing to an ambient synth/sequencer CD.
'Life in Cosmic Highway' by Gert Emmens & Cadenced Haven.
And a couple of glasses of red wine really helps. :guiness;

Where's that - UEA or Waterfront presumably? He was living/based round here, not sure if he still is?
