Just found this buried in collection of LPs - can't say I like it that much having just managed to stomach one track but other may like it. Its a double album called Flanger templates from 1987.

Being lazy and listening to Velvet Underground Gold (best of are usually the scurge)

This reminds me of something Petula Clark or Mama Cas has sung.

Gregory Porter - Nat "King" Cole & Me.

What can one say but WOW!
Porter's golden voice, plus breathtaking sound, full of light, shade warmth, tone and old school wide dynamic range.
Porter's production team and the orchestra have done a sterling job of emulating the Capitol stereo sound of the late 'fifties/early sixties. Full marks to them.
Nothing will surpass Cole's originals in terms of that voice but this is fabulous and Porter just oozes affection for his idol.
Take a listen to "When Love Was King" - seven minutes of spine tingling emotional and sonic gorgeousness.
The whole album is lovely.

Thanks Steve, for your listening impressions on the new Gregory Porter!
Wanted to buy it today but work didn't allow it. So, tomorrow it will be... :-)

A desperate attempt to break out of over-exposure to synthesizer bloops & bleeps ...
If Cheap Trick can't do it - nobody can. :character-beavisbutthead:

I like Cheap Trick. Saw them in the 80s supporting Motely Crue.
