Lorin Maazel, the first American and the first Jew in the postwar period to conduct at Bayreuth has passed away at the age of 84. We also lost Claudio Abbado back in January; it's not been a good year for the giants of the baton thus far.

I'm really shocked and upset by our loss of Robin Williams. To me, an absolute genius with a deeply sensitive and perceptive side. Probably impossible to live with though, but my heart goes out to his wife and family. When depression goes too low, NOTHING can bring you back. RIP sir!
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

the death of a liked actor is a curious thing .I am not one of those who would subscribe to the view "he was an actor you didn't even know him"

However as you only know them through the medium of their work , they don't actually die . So for me , the skill and craft of Robin Willims [ and it was immense ] will continue to bring me pleasure until I die not him .
