Even so, I posit that you set this thread up specifically to get me into a banning situation.

........................
For those that want an example of the harder lyric, go to my post ( just entered) called " Frank Sinatra: wot a cozy joke!" at Snakeoilaudio forum.
But "Filthy" doesn't rhyme with "Mad".....

Now why would Tel try n get you banned, you seem hell bent on doing that all by your self (You've no more strikes left remember)...... :naughty:

Who the fuk would go (back) to that shit hole of a forum. :!:

An ode to losers everywhere; '23rd' by John Cooper Clarke.

You can count on him.
He'll always let you down.
While you hang about for him.
He's in another town.
He gets from A to B,
He can't see eye to eye,
With anyone... If you ask me...
He doesn't try

Check his empty pockets
Check 'em more than once
He hasn't got it,
Whatever it is that you want.
Energy is a four letter word
He doesn't buy
Here he comes now - 23rd
He doesn't try

Compassion, it isn't necessary
His sickness is an act
He'll make you an accessory
After this obvious fact
You must excuse him
Ask his Mother why
You can't abuse him
He doesn't try

It doesn't pay to help him
he's somewhere else
Tell 'im - you can't tell him
He's a fool to himself
"What's in it for me" - you know the kind
Always saying "Why?"
Two weeks behind
He doesn't try

Bikes, buses, trucks, and trains,
Gangways, ladders, and ramps
A seemingly endless chain
of pickpockets and tramps
He wears the look of false
alarm like an old school tie
Somone ought to twist his arm
he doesn't try

Laugh? It isn't funny
No respect for pain
If you give him money
He slings it down the drain
You're looking for Mr. Right
His type need not apply
He won't play the white man
He doesn't try

I'd only put the bard of Salford in the slightly mad side. Poetically, little to fault.

C'mon - let's have the bad (by which I mean rubbish, crap, naff, generally done by someone who really has little talent for it)

Moody Blues' lyrics are toe-curlingly awful, except for Go Now! The mighty HMHB do a good send-up of prog lyrics:

Underneath the underlying tones and dizzy melodies
Next to the intelligent guitars
You'll find frailty, beauty,
sex as art and something
or other about dolphins

Parlourmaids, dandelions things ' bout my mind
And a dead girl's soul that lives inside me
And we don't really know what it's meant to be
But it's an absolute depth of intensity

Deliberately bad this time - Jimmy Cross - I want my Baby back.

this bit is spoken:

I don't hardly know where to begin
I remember we were cruising home from the Beatles concert
I'd had such a wonderful evening sitting there
Watching my Baby screaming and tearing her hair out and carrying on
She was so full of life
Then
Well we were about three miles from home
When all of a sudden it started to rain
And I do mean rain
I couldn't hardly see nothing
Well we kept driving for about another mile
When all of a sudden
I see this stalled car right smack in front of me
Well I wasn't about to slam on the brakes
Cause I didn't have none to start to with
So I swerved to the left and what do I see?
Some mush-head on a motorcycle heading right at us
And I knew at last me and my baby were about to meet
The Leader of the
Pack

Well when I come to I looked around
And there was the Leader
And there was the Pack
And over there was my baby
And over there was my baby
And way over there was my baby

Here is a song from Caravan's unfairly overlooked later-period album 'Better By Far'.

Main songwriter Pye Hastings is well-known for his quirky and humorous lyrics and here he manages to rhyme 'Mercedes' with 'lady'.
You can tell that it is the same hand that produced 'Golf Girl'.
Still trying to work out if this is terrible or brilliant. It's certainly amusing.

Caravan - 'Give Me More'

I went out at night, taking the sights
Fell all in love with a lady
She's got ill repute, and an over-size foot
Bad breath and drives a Mercedes
But oh, she had such style
Looks that could kill you stone dead

Though I tried not to stare at the parts that were bare
She said: "Would you like to touch?", I said, "Very much"
"Then why don't we go somewhere warmer?
It's cold in the street, and it's hurting my feet
Come with me down to the corner"
Ooh, I could not tell you the thoughts that came into my head
When she and the girl took money and all, and said:

"Give me more, make me feel though I was dying"
"Give me more, give me so much that I'm crying"
"Give me more, make me feel so much better"
"Give me more", so I tried not to upset her

It's not quietened the fact of the funds that I lacked
Had to shop where I bought the equipment
But the shape of the suit and the size of her boots
Gave an impending sense of achievement
But oh, to my surprise, she tied herself onto the bed
Then with her toes, in an indecent pose, she said:

"Give me more, make me feel though I was dying"
"Give me more, give me so much that I'm crying"
"Give me more, make me feel so much better"
"Give me more", so I tried not to upset her

Oh - and for those who have never heard it, here is one of the very best tracks that Caravan ever recorded, the wonderful instrumental from the same album 'The Last Unicorn'.

To go with my current instability and an attempt to put things right..

From 'Three Of A Perfect Pair'

Look at the signs
Look at the symptoms
Look at the slight
Calm before the storm

I feel the silence
I feel the signals
I feel the strain
Tension in my head
Well, what more can be said...

Not a model man
Not a savior or a saint
Imperfect in a word
Make no mistake
But I
Give you everything I have
Take me as I am...

Killer walking bassline too - and the sometimes uncomfortable key changes...
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
