Unread post by CN211276 »

I will be going on a minibus trip to Ascot races next month with friends. In advance we all have to select 10 songs to go on a Spotify playlist. After some thought I came up with these.

3. UFO – Shoot shot
4. Judas Priest – You got another thing coming
5. Saxon – 747 Strangers in the night
6. Black Sabbath – Paranoid
7. Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
8. Rolling Stones – Jumping Jack Flash
9. David Bowie – Rebel Rebel
10. Rainbow – All night long

Good hooks, good riffs and all from the golden era.

Car songs are different from Hifi Songs , you need songs that are invariably shortish , no long instrumental solos and ones that everyone knows the lyrics two . Of the top of my head from times I was student travelling to Oldham Athletic away games and round france to watch world cup 1998.

1. Tom Robinson - 2468
2. Manfreed Mann - Fox on the run
3. Billy Bragg - Sexuality
4.Queen - Fat bottom girls
5. Gerry Rafferty - Right Next time
6. REM - losing my religion [ just make words up if you do not know the lyric ]
7. Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell
9. Genesis . I know what I like [ 1977 seconds out live verision so somebody can bring along a tambourine }
10. Don Mclean - American Pie

4. The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
5. Free - All Right Now
6. Wishbone Ash - The King Will Come
7. Sparks - This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us
8. Fleetwood Mac - Man Of The World
9. The Stone Roses - I Wanna Be Adored

Mostly played in the car...

Fields of Fire - Big Country
Gotta Getaway - Stiff Little Fingers
Joy Division Oven Gloves - Half Man Half Biscuit
Ace of Spades - Motorhead
Shakin Street - MC5
Four Nights Drunk - Steeleye Span
Black Velvet Band - Dubliners
I Fought The Law - Bobby Fuller
Promised Land - Chuck Berry (or Elvis)
Take The Skinheads Bowling - Camper Van Beethoven

Sometimes the kids sing along...usually they just stick their earphones in or make futile demands to put on Heart FM.

DQ, I thought you would thoroughly approve of some 20th Century Soviet era classical! Perhaps Shostakovich Symphony No 10 might tempt you a little more ;)
