Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac

Unread post by karatestu »

Just listened to the greatest hits on CD whilst having my reflexology at home. Laid back eyes closed and even playing through my Blu ray player and TV it had me spell bound.

i have not listened to any of my old Fleetwood Mac for a while and the rest that i have is on vinyl and would not have been able to get up to change sides. Anyway the sound of this band just blows me away. Peter Green was a guitar genius - the sounds he could get out of a guitar were just amazing. My favorite tunes on this CD have to be Man of the World, Need your love so bad and Green Manalishi. There isn't one i don't like but these stick out for me and always get the hairs on the back of my kneck standing up, no matter what i play them on.

Oh and on a side note reflexology is amazing. My wife and i have had it done at home once a month for the last 6 years when we were trying for our second child. Definitely recommended.

This is a good 'un. I used to have the 4 or 5 LP version. If a 20+ minute version of Rattlesnake Shake floats your boat then it's recommended.

Bloody great on CD too. I've not played it for a while, but the three-disc CD set from the early 90's sounds superb I remember.

I remember listening to the more 'bluesy' Fleetwood Mac stuff very many years ago. Just pulled it up on YT and yup... brilliant.

Can I suggest a separate thread for musical recommendations? I certainly get a lot of stuff from this forum (Anathema being the most recent), given that we seem to be of similar vintage. How does one go about this?

Man of The World and Need Your Love So Bad are two of my all-time Fleetwood Mac favourites. Used to play both of them with the old band, and I had dibs on the NYLSB solo(s). If you haven't already, check out the Blues For Greeny album by Gary Moore. You might just like it Stu.

I really like the Peter Green Fleetwood Mac best of album. My favourite track is "Man of the world" which seems to be a cry for help. I remember "Albertros" from when I was a kid, on Top of the Pops and the Alan Freeman Top 20 show.

I've just seen a 5 CD offer on Amazon for about £14.00 and it's all the Peter Green stuff. Can't be bad for less than £3.00 per CD and if you don't like them you can send them back.

Afraid my preference is for the Buckingham /Nicks era.
