Alex Lifesons recent statement has provided confirmation. The physical demands on Neil Peart are two much, coupled with Alex's arthritis and reports that Geddys voice was struggling on the final North American tours. By including "Losing it" in the set list it seems they were conveying a message.
Saw them on a number of occasions in a sold out Birmingham arena. They have made some great albums spanning five decades and the last two are strong. From their beginnings as Zep clones they never stood still. I will miss them.

Re: Rush - the end
Sad news, but as the great (and still active) Neil Young once said:
"It's better to burn out than to fade away".
We still have all that great music to enjoy!
Anyone for a bit of 'Tom Sawyer' ?

My all-time favourite band. I loved them as a teenager and still love them now I’m on the countdown to retirement.
Not too surprised that they have problems now. Have you ever tried to play any of their songs ?

We tried to cover Spirit of the radio, as a bass player myself I'm convinced that Geddy Lee either a massive hand span or very long fingers.Stemcor1990 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:43 pm My all-time favourite band. I loved them as a teenager and still love them now I’m on the countdown to retirement.

I saw them live at The Brighton Centre in 1980, just about the time Permanent Waves came out. I was standing right at the front, almost in touching distance and was completely blown away by them.
I drifted off to different stuff over the years but my interest sparked into life again with the album Counterparts, a definite nod back to past glories.
My stuff; Toshiba SR-370/Mission 774 /Ortofon Quintet Black, Cambridge CXC CD transport/modified Musical Fidelity X DAC/modified Musical Fidelity X10v3 tube buffer, Nakamichi CA5E preamp, Passive RVC, Proton AA-1150 DMC power amp ,Mordaunt Short Signifer on original factory stands, NVA LS5, Cambridge NP30 network player, Mogami with Neutrik RCA, Sennheiser HD650, 600, Koss Pro4 AA.

Re: Rush - the end
Nice post Rick.
I love playing the intro to spirit of radio but you do need a good guitar otherwise the triplet is unplayable. Just a shame I can’t play the rest of the song.....
The bass solo before the guitar solo on freewill is also fun but not easy. My fingers are all over the place when I have a go. I watched Geddy play it and he didn’t seem to move his hand - the guy is so good.
I also saw them on the permanent waves tour. 6th June 1980 will live with me forever. 6th row from the front and in the centre of the stage. The boys played an absolute stormer. Probably the best live show I have seen.
