Has Johnson denied the affair...?
I don't know.

If you made a list of MPs (male and female) from all parties (say for the last 25 years) who had shagged (or buggered) out of wedlock it would be (I estimate) quite a long list.

Does being a "shagger" make an MP bad at his job ? I doubt it.
He has not denied the affair. The issue is sex for favours and him not declaring her an interest. I think she is quite calculating and saw him as a good way to promote her business, knowing what he is like in advance.

So what you seem to be saying is that Boris is actually the "victim" ?

I've read that "power" can be an aphrodisiac for women (and men ?)

It's not just "sex for favours," though. Let me repeat what I wrote earlier...
He had an affair with a co-worker while Lord Mayor and got her pregnant. He kept very quiet about it until he was found out and was reprimanded because he "...failed to declare interest over his affair with unpaid City Hall adviser Helen Macintyre, who it later emerged gave birth to one of his children.

In 2010 Johnson acknowledged the potential conflict of interest had not been disclosed and vowed to ‘bear in mind the definition of close associate for the future’.

Then he instantly forgot all about the definition of "close associate" and took up with Jennifer Arcuri and kept that quiet too, until he was found out yet again.
He hid about an affair where he got a co-worker pregnant, was pulled up about it when found out, and censured. He took his bollocking, said sorry, and went straight out and did the self-same thing again. That speaks to his character, on top of using our money to squire his totty around the world and bung her grants. He ignores rules, laws, and promises. He lies constantly. He has shoved so much stuff under the carpet the poor bloody carpet must be resting against the ceiling by now. He simply cannot be trusted.

Not a victim, just lacking in sense. What would she see in him besides his position and influence.

I remember Caroline Aherne playing her "Mrs Merton" character and introducing Debbie McGee. Her opening question was "What first attracted you to the millionaire, Paul Daniels?"

There's the old Jeremy Thorpe joke. Which is rather in keeping with the original spirit of this thread. And he's dead now, so I can't be bullying him.

Anyway.

Q. Why has Jeremy Thorpe got splinters in his anus?

...
...
A. Because he's had half the cabinet up there.

Although when I think of Jeremy Thorpe I think of the true story of when he landed in his helicopter in the fields at my brother's school when he was electioneering. He went round shaking everyone's hand etc - as politicians do. With a cluster of people buzzing round him all the time. The school clown keeping in close attendance.
When it was time to leave, Jeremy Thorpe had "Vote Conservative" stickers plastered all over his back.

Edit, for "balance" the Jeremy Thorpe joke could easily be adapted to a female politician that had the reputation for having sex with outside of a monogomous relationship.

I can remember most of the Jeremy Thorpe jokes which did the rounds for years. The name Norman Scott provided a good play on words. The excellent "A very English scandal" series brought it all back recently. Evident that because of his standing he got away with conspiracy to murder. There was a recent interview with the real Norman Scott after the series. He was lucky to reach old age.

Trust is playing as a weak point for Johnson in the election narrative...

'Get Brexit Done' is playing strongly for him...

I'd say that rather proves how stupid a large section of the electorate actually is. If people could actually be bothered to look beyond the sound-bite they would see that the phrase is as meaningless as "Brexit means Brexit" is. Whenever we actually, officially, "leave" the EU that is the real-world start of just one more "Brexit" process, which is the one where it takes five to ten years to reach the same level of trade as we have at the moment while the rich get even richer and the poor find themselves paying for it yet again because the Tory party (should they remain in power) will find it necessary to take us into another period of austerity.

I don't think it's about being stupid - we are all doing the best with what we know and the time we have - more down to how much you are willing / able to delve into it, and how discriminating you are prone to be. The 'instant minefield' of social media has made it even harder to tell the good guys from the bad.
