Re: Scottish Independence
@joe, when it goes tits up, they will still moan about how the English have drained the lifeblood out of Scotland for ferkin' years.
@dan, yip, they can put that to bed forever, as it stands both of them wouldn't be good enough to join the English 4th division,
funny how when Rangers got the book thrown at them, Celtic fans were rejoicing and saying it wouldn't affect their standards,
well it's plain to see now how much they've missed the old firm clashes to keep them on their toes,
they are just dire and a laughing stock in Europe.

Re: Scottish Independence
The loss of a bogey man to blame for your own short comings has always been a wake up call. England seems to be given as an excuse for no end of problems. Too many midges - must be an English conspiracy, not enough beer - must be an English conspiracy, losing at football - must be an English conspiracy, etc etc. What will the Scottish moaning willy's do / blame without us

Re: Scottish Independence
I gather what is happening at the moment is interesting. There is a gender divide emerging, men are tending to yes and their wives are tending to no but not telling their husbands. So it looks like Shona might just negate your vote Jammy

Re: Scottish Independence
Here's an interesting scenario...
Out of interest, I wonder if there are any elected MPs in the House of Commons, from either party, who are actually Scots. What will happen to them if Scotland votes Yes? A round of by-elections for their seats and a P45 for the current incumbents?
http://bit.ly/1wgrXm4Scotland votes clearly for independence, to occur – according to the SNP’s current timetable – in March 2016;
In May 2015 there is a UK general election (when Scotland is still a member of the UK). Labour wins 330 seats in the 650-member House of Commons, a majority of 10 over all other parties. Its complement of 330 includes 40 of Scotland’s 59 MPs. Labour forms a government;
and then...
In March 2016, the break-up of the United Kingdom occurs. The House of Commons is now reduced to 591 MPs, with Labour having 290; it no longer has a majority.

Re: Scottish Independence
The whole thing is a giant cock-up in the making. Unnecessary, unwarranted and very irritating.

Re: Scottish Independence
strange company for me indeed, but it is independent thought I can assure you.
For me if I was living in Scotland it would be does the result merit the hassle / problems. There is always a dichotomy in these things. Not being a royalist I still think the queen spotted it. Basically she said "think", which I don't think a lot of people seem to be doing, they are being carried along by the emotion.

Yes voters' anger over Dad's Army episode
http://yhoo.it/1wB9PGrScots in favour of Scotland splitting from the UK have been angered by the BBC's decision to re-run a particular episode of 'Dad's Army'.
The programme, which was shown on Saturday night, was the one where John Laurie's Scottish Private James Frazer takes over the Home Guard platoon from Captain Mainwaring, with haphazard results.
According to the Daily Telegraph, one Yes vote campaigner has accused the corporation of bias, saying: “A total of 80 episodes of Dad’s Army were made by the corporation – and which one does it choose to show on the Saturday ahead of the vote?
“The one in which Frazer – played by John Laurie – tells Mainwaring that he can run the platoon better than him, is put in charge and then makes a total mess of things. Thank you very much, Auntie Beeb.”
A spokesperson for the BBC told the paper that any political inference on the scheduling of the episode was not intended.
They added that the episodes of the show, when re-run, are always shown in the same order.
Speaking to the paper, Frank Williams, who played Rev Timothy Farthing in the series, said that he did not believe the timing of the episode airing ad anything to do with the imminent referendum on Scottish independence.
“I don’t know what view John would have taken on independence, but he lived in Bucks,” he added. [Daily Telegraph]
