That's sad.

no personal attachment , but you got to respect the achievement and if you watch the big bang theory , he made a cameo and seemed a nice man.

Also , its a bag of shit when iconic figures of your youth pass away .

Yep, I thought that was sad.

I was 13 when he took his one small step for a man. I remember watching it in black & white on the telly! I was allowed to stay up for it. 8-)

Oh dear -- did he really say that?

EDIT: Ah no, according to Wiki another Apollo astronaut, James Irwin, said "Jesus walking on the earth is more important than man walking on the moon".

That would be an unlikely quote for Armstrong to make - he was pretty unhappy with Aldrin giving himself Holy Communion shortly after the Lunar touchdown. NASA kept this quiet as they were being sued by a vocal US athiest (name escapes me) over Jim Lovell's Apollo VIII broadcast where he read from Genesis as they filmed the Earth rising over the moon's horizon as they orbited on Christmas Eve 1968.

I was only 6 years 8 months old when Apollo XI landed on the moon, but remember it like it was yesterday. My dad woke me up once it was clear that the first EVA had been bought forward and allowed me back downstairs to watch it on TV. It's still the most treasured moment of my life so far.

RIP Neil A, Armstrong.

He said son of man, not son of god. I think you are all misinterpreting.

Aye - except Armstrong didn't say either. The quote was from Apollo XVs James Irwin.
