With the sitting president claiming that the election is a "fraud".

Donald trump said it, so it must be true.

All this in the country that sees itself as the home of democracy.

The "home of democracy" and the most wealthy nation in the world is currently choosing between an old egotistical lying loon and an even older bloke whose memory is poor and his best days are long gone.

Too close to call. Either way, it seems the US will only become more divided, especially if the wrangling goes on beyond this weekend..

Spot on with the I'm not Trump comment. It's a very sad state of affairs when over 65 million people (and counting) thought Trump was worthy of their vote. With such divided views splitting America down the middle I fear this will not end with polite acceptance

The fact that it is close shows America is in a bad way. It looks like it could be some time before we know the result. The postal votes which are taking a long time to count are most likely to go to Biden, so fingers crossed. If Trump loses he is going to contest it, if he wins there will be civil unrest. Decent people, with half a brain, cannot face another four years of him.

Whatever happens, I'm afraid it's not going to be pretty. If Trump wins I honestly believe that he's painting a target on his forehead. The only reason he's walking around now is, I think, because people were willing to give the legal route a final try. It's possible it might even be "sanctioned," by Trump's enemies (and he's made more than his share) in the intelligence community, or the military. If Biden wins he'll also be a target. Hopefully, the lunatic fringe who follow Trump will be easier to neutralise.

Either way, I think it's going to get messy.
