Another truly brilliant detective/mystery series is 'The Bridge' (Scandanavian TV)'.

Now halfway through Happy Valley 1 and the plot is vaguely reminiscent of the Coen brothers 'Fargo' but less wacky.

Well, I don't care what anyone says, I think it's jolly nice that the television company has given you Northern folk a reality program all to yourselves especially as the rest of us already have Downton.

Now I've got an image of Catherine (Sarah Lancashire's character) polling up to Downton.

At the event I went to, there was a suggestion that there should be a scene in Happy Valley where Caroline (Sarah Lancashire's character in 'Last Tango in Halifax') turns up at Catherine's cop shop - one of the cast there said 'I dare you'. Probably something to look out for in season 3.

Well it's goodbye series 2 and hello series 3. Maybe there's a chance they might consider putting in some local musical references as well as the scenery. Something from the Campion Jack Dupree songbook I'm sure must fit in somewhere. Last I heard his daughter was still a Halifax resident.

Now if only I knew someone in the production company...

Seriously - the series finish has left me breathless and wanting more. Amazing and unexpected.

Happy Valley 2 picked up two major awards at last night's BAFTA event: Best Drama Series and Best Female Lead for the truly wonderful Sarah Lancashire.

Quality series. Amazing acting.

(My sister Juliet is the big lass on the left, so proud!)
