Happy Valley

Unread post by terrybooth »

Went to a special preview of the first episode of Series 2 of Happy Valley (a gig for Calderdale Flood relief).

All I can say is that if you liked the last series, don't miss this next Tuesday.

The series is made by RED Production Company and is produced by Juliet Charlesworth (Scott & Bailey, Clocking Off).
From this article: https://rts.org.uk/article/bbc-commissi ... ppy-valley

Juliet started in the Beeb as a secretary but they discovered that she had a talent for organisation and planning, and she could also 'handle' difficult personalities. She's come a long way and made us all proud.

Edit: Filming finished just a couple of days before the flooding in Elland and the building they had been using as an HQ was completely washed out.

So, in a slightly different universe, she might have ended up in Bananarama.

I don't know if she was there last night. There were a few name checks for Red Production but I can't remember the names. I do know that Red Production were behind event and I do know that the audience were very appreciative, so I hope she was there to experience that.

Brilliant series, can't wait for the next one.

I'm a courier in the Huddersfield area, and I used to watch them filming various scenes down at Brookes Mill in Armitage Bridge near Honley. Incidentally they used the same location to film some scenes for Peaky Blinders I found out last week. Up the road they've filmed loads for DI Banks too. It's positively Hollywood round there

It one of the fun things about watching TV programmes (and the occasional film) where you know the locations.

Remember 'Stay Lucky' (Sowerby Bridge and Leeds). They'd be in a building in one place and then walk out of the front door about five miles away.

Bit's of Ken Russell's 'Women in Love' (the picnic scene and the wedding scene) were filmed in a couple of locations in my home town, Derby.
