Would I be fined
This is what I have to wear when swimming or on the beach in a hot country. What you can't see is a pair of thin long trousers as well. The drugs I take make me susceptible to sun skin damage. So would I be fined on a French beach or is that only for women, and what if that woman was on the same drugs as me, does that make us banned from holidaying in France.
Re: Would I be fined
I can't understand what French are thinking.... If someone want's to wear long sleeve's and trouser's on beach, why not? It's just that usual french

Re: Would I be fined
We are advised to limit our UV exposure so why anyone who observes this health advice should then be fined is beyond me. I don't really care what anyone wants to wear on the beach, what matters is that it is their own choice.

Given the ridiculous reporting of this incident in the uk, who the fuck knows .
I am not even sure the police photographed were interpreting the law correctly .

Oddly enough the 'Burkini' was developed to liberate islamic ladies from not being able to swim and get all their normal clothing soaking wet in the process.
In China it is also the fashion to not get tanned and to swim fully covered - including face masks !

I am not sure "liberate" is the correct word .
They are of course unable to show their bodies pursuant of scripture which places unequal restrictions on women . It was developed to comply with certain interpretations of Islamic faith .

Traditionally in China pale skin is beautiful in women and shows wealth, sun tan is for peasants and serfs. For men it is being fat, as it shows wealth

Re: Would I be fined
I think the issue is covering the face rather than body coverage. That is only a certain branch if Islam. If you can't identify people it is a problem but on the beach it is the least problem. Teachers wearing a Burka is a problem as well as walking into a bank (great cover for criminals). French are now paranoid though for good reason. Since full face coverage is not required by 'official' islamic practice it should be limited. Personally I prefer to feel I am in Britain rather than the Middle East when passing through certain urban areas.

Re: Would I be fined
It seems to me to be welcomed by women who want to hide the fact that they are fat and ugly
