Re: Hello!
When someone comes on here claiming to run a quality system through a single speaker. - taking them seriously is difficult from the start.
He (she ? / it ?) claimed to have been lurking for a while, so probably was well aware of the HFS Bullshit Detection System. Or they are stupid or (most likely) it is a wind-up.

R.A.V.E T amp (2020 chip)
Tekton 8.1 Loudspeaker (single 8 inch drive unit) Just one speaker not two!
TT: Voyd Valdi/silver wired RB250/Goldring 1042
Nakamichi DR2 Cassette deck
Solid core interconnect & speaker cable
I also have a Gamma Acoustics Gemini Zero feedback S.E.T Valve amp packed away
Tell us who you really are and what your system really is.
Or invite one of us round for a listening session to make me eat my words.

Re: Hello!
Try connecting the two outputs of a stereo amplifier to one set of speaker terminals and see what happens.

Re: Hello!
Try it with your amplifier and run at normal levels and see what happens.
You cannot hook two amps to a single set of speaker terminals because the amps will see each other and usually blow up, blow fuses, or go into protection.

Re: Hello!
No argument there, however, you can connect the inputs together and feed both channels with the composite mono signal and then use one power amp to drive the single speaker. Assuming we are talking transistor amplifiers. Amplifiers which had a mono switch merely linked the left and right pre-amp outputs. Alternatively there are amps that are designed to be bridged driving one speaker with both channels.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Try it with your amplifier and run at normal levels and see what happens.

Re: Hello!
Geoff - Yes of course you can but the dubious thing about this if you read the mans post he uses a stereo amplifier into one speaker using both channels.

Re: Hello!
I had a look at the data sheet for the TA2020 and there is nothing there to suggest that you can drive a single speaker with both channels and, as you say, doing so would drive the amp to either destroy itself or trigger the protection circuits so I can't see how he is making it work.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Geoff - Yes of course you can but the dubious thing about this if you read the mans post he uses a stereo amplifier into one speaker using both channels.
