Never underestimate the attraction of blaming 'someone else' for the consequences of your own choices / problems...nor the lure of short term pleasure over long term pain. Trump, Farage, Le Pen, Wilders all play on these human failings. Many mainstream politicians do the same but less aggressively / much more discretely and over a much longer period of time, hence my earlier comment that short term disturbance can be preferable to long term indifference. The 'disturbance' I have in mind, though, is created by the free thinking and educated.

Bigotry, racism, and all other forms of stupidity must be challenged at every opportunity.

DQ is correct that mainstream politicians have not struggled to have us accept ever worsening 'terms and conditions' since the late 1970s.
