Re: Anyone here a builder
Having looked more closely at the picture of the inside I notice that the piece that has dropped looks like a wide plastic trim(?) which obviously wasn't secured properly to the underside of whatever it is supporting the opening. If you pull that down it should be more clear what they have done, it won't look very pretty but it's going to have to come out at some point anyway. If it is any sort of "proper" structural support it shouldn't have moved at all.
There is another possibility and that is that they haven't fitted the glass units into the doors properly. They should be packed out tightly between the bottom corner next to the hinge and the opposite top corner so it acts as a brace to stop the doors dropping. Do the doors bind on the top or bottom?

Re: Anyone here a builder
Then I reckon the problem could well be with the doors themselves rather than pressure from above.
I may have a chance to get to you later in the week, Thursday/Friday to have a look if that suits you?
Where are you now?

Re: Anyone here a builder
Corresponds with my own thoughts. There is no sign of cracking either outside or inside in the snaps - as far as I can tell. Thus, I was looking for a window / door problem but got hold of the wrong thing.zebbo wrote:Then I reckon the problem could well be with the doors themselves rather than pressure from above.
SNIP
Hope the problem is solved very soon. May not be to expensive either

Re: Anyone here a builder
Zebbo will do a report as to what he found but the Windows and doors have to come out and a new lintel fitted.

Re: Anyone here a builder
Without wishing to contradict Zebbo who has seen the job, I can't see why the lintel stops the doors closing properly. No signs of movement anywhere. It may well be that the lintel is not fitted correctly, but that doesn't mean it isn't fit for purpose.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Zebbo will do a report as to what he found but the Windows and doors have to come out and a new lintel fitted.
We have a short RSJ in church that is a bit corroded (churches often have damp problems) and one builder, contrary to my assessment, said it needed replacement. So our gaffer got a third opinion that agreed with mine - it will outlast the rest of the building.
You might like to get a second opinion. It could save you lots.
