Something very interesting is happening and in my opinion not before time. The houses, Congress especially is down grading the power of the the Presidents Office. It has always been an anomaly that the USA has been partly multi party and multi person democracy like the UK houses, but overlaying that has been a president who can almost act like a four year dictator.

Both the Russian sanction vote and the refusal to vote down Obama care has shown a swing in the distribution of power that should be maintained from now on IMO. The President has always had too much executive power, and in the past (all Presidents) made decision of life and death that no one else had a chance to review. Executive order should now be banned.

I think its just reverting to the situation as was before Bush Jr when the White House took a lot of power via 9/11 inspired legislation. I agree its a good thing. The UK equivalent was the litigation to give parliament the power to vote on the brexit deal.

You could be right, but I recall the trouble Obama had attempting to get his healthcare bill enacted - and I think it was far worse than what Trump is facing trying to tear it down. The difference is that the POTUS's own side are turning on him, Obama never had a majority to back him and had to fight all the way - executive powers notwithstanding.
