This (originally rhetorical) question has taken on renewed relevance.

A Notice of Complaint for written defamation (libel) authored by an 'anonymous' poster requires the publisher of the post (e.g. a forum owner) to pass on the communication details of the poster. If the publisher refuses to pass on such information, or if the information provided is obviously false, the publisher might be held responsible for the libel.

To balance things, I picked up a couple of posts from Bigman at Audio Talk:

1st post:

Hi Richard,

I am truly staggered by the behaviour that you and your company are being subjected to. I had no idea of how severe it is/was. I have now seen for myself why you are so confrontational. I won't be back on HFS but I wish you well.

Oliver.

2nd post:

I don't feel sorry for him. It's shocked me how the NVA brand has been dragged through the shit on little to no basis especially anything in recent history. He's a prickly fellow but I can see why. Nothing wrong with letting the man know this.

The campaign against him is personal. Yup, he's pissed people off, including myself but His gear is solid technically and proof to the contrary won't be produced. If it was dodgy, I'd have said nothing.

It's easy getting brainwashed if you only frequent AOS. I originally believed some of the stuff about RD and Dave Cawley at first but thinking about it logically I looked elsewhere for information and wondered why they ran successful business's while Marco and Co were likely just a bunch of idiots with some kind of agenda. Bigman is welcome back and if he has seen the light he won't get such a hard time.

Fair play to Oliver for telling it like it is and I for one appreciate him challenging the status quo on AoS, but also being big enough to post like he has on AT. When I first looked into joining a HiFi forum, I too was drawn into the chummy/friendly/value for money AoS, but it didn't take long for me to see through the glittery/chummy/sexist/filthy facade and find out there was a nasty, vindictive underbelly, driven by its leader. I know you'll read this Oli, but perhaps you can now understand why some of us can appreciate why the Doc behaves like he does. I'm no Doc apologist and I'm certainly not a fanbody, but if you feel that the ribbing/piss taking/banter you've received is below the belt, imagine what its been like for the Doc when lies and falsehoods have been posted about his products/business for years and for the most, his direct right of reply has been denied. The angry Doc you see today was once an member of AoS and as we've seen from links posted elsewhere here, the hierarchy there were tolerant of his ways. Nobody is perfect, but see past that, cut him some slack, and all will be good in the world. Most important of all, we'll all enjoy the music more :)

Credit to Bigman . I might have been a bit harsh on him.

At the time he deserved it, it is his opinions that have changed, we simply observe. If someone no longer deserves the pisstake then they don't get it.
