And watch the exodus of companies relocating away from the UK.

Companies are not swayed by emotional or, even, political wishes. MONEY is the game.

2400 companies have left Catalonia in the last 8 weeks.

Free trade will be irrelevant if your traders have moved abroad.

Get real. Both need something from the other side.

I have now been approached by several (British) financial agencies who are arranging for ex-pat Brits to move their savings & pensions out of the UK as protection against a possible collapse of the British economy.

Someone, somewhere is making a profit out of the mess.

Well it depends on who you listen to/believe..

Get real? Yes indeed, it's the EU that needs to get real! How many $'s will Canada have to pay to have a Trade Deal with the EU or Japan Yen?

Will they also have Schengen, be overruled by the ECJ and be part of an EU Military? NO!

Free trade is what happens outside the EU, the EU is is a closed shop to many countries including Africa. Its' difficult to get a treed deal with the EU as theres 27 member star who each have to agree, so it's a bloody nightmare and is why it takes so long.

Many of the organisations/companies saying that it'll nothing be doom fo he UK are actually part funded by the EU. If the EU is so good what are many countries in such a dire sate an 50% youth unemployment in Southern Europe. Yes I agree the the UK has to be careful as collapse of the EU will have serious effects on us all so it needs to drop its desire to be a World superpower and just concentrate on the trade. The EU are playing this like a spoiled brat as they are going to lose huge membership fees as he UK is the second largest net contributor to Germany.

The main worry though is the desire to end nation states democracy because they are nothing more than a dictatorship hiding behind the "peace" they say hey have maintained since WW2 ( No that was a NATO) and there was not much peace shown to the Catalan voters ( we all know it was an illegal election but it could and should have been handed far less aggressively.

Leaving amounts to cutting off your nose to spite your face. There is a lot wrong with the EU but leaving is not the answer. The EU are aware that our economy could collapse and are playing on this in the negotiations. This is their trump card. It is about time we got real and had a second referendum so sense could prevail.

Our economy will not collapse, nor will the pound. It is just newspaper twaddle. The pound drops 5% against the Euro, papers scream collapse, so they sell you newspapers.

If I lose 5% of my overweight will I collapse  well the £ is overweight still, it could do with losing 5%.

Economy - what happened in 2008 was far larger and more dangerous than what we will see from an EU walk away, but it will be temp, where as 2008 has been semi permanent.

The pound has actually dropped very little even against the Dollar and certainly hardly against the Euro. As I said some businesses have been importing cheap labour or relying on subsidies. If they go bust they probably would do anyway in the long run as their business model is unsustainable. Pound is actually still overvalued. All these 20% rises in Chinese made electronics is bullshit / chance for more slurp or more due to rising production costs in China.

When the pounds drops they all tut tut and raise prices, when the pound gains they hide and hope we don't notice. It is one of the standard capitalist cons, and applies to any material cost rises. IT is what creates inflation not the price of the commodity or the value of Sterling.

My suggestion to 'get real' applies to both sides. They both need a wake up call.

For either side to walk away will bring the worst result for both sides.
