I personally couldn't care less if NI is with us or with the South. Per usual we are caught in the middle of lunatic Irish tribal politics. For some of them it wont take much excuse to start digging up the guns and firing them again. That is the thing that has to be prevented as no one wins that lunacy.

More motivation to walk away. Leave the border open and the EU will soon be screaming and demanding Southern Ireland closes it, it then becomes their problem not ours.

Reported here is that if Northern Ireland receives special status to hold open borders with the EU then the City of London wants that too - and Scotland.

This is hilarious.

I personally demand that Sidcup has special privileges, and somehow Wrexham is removed from the planet all together

Ooh, just walk away!
(Walk, walk, walk away)
Aye aye, aye yeah

Never seen so many wanker Irish politicians farting their egos around on TV to millions, like Christmas for them as they are used to people (the world) just ignoring them.

And Wales.
Ha ha ha... let's see the votes again:

Scotland - Leave 38%; Remain 62%
Northern Ireland - Leave 44.2%; Remain 55.8%
Wales - Leave 52.5%; Remain 47.5%

...guess Wales won't let a little thing like voting LEAVE get in the way of them trying to be a little bit independent from the UK.

As for Scotland, unlike Northern Ireland, it does not have a devolved government for 'enterprise, trade and investment'.

Ideological wish lists and flights of fantasy aside, we seem to be left with a choice of:

1. Enforce the proposed agreement on NI border over the heads of the DUP (and around 50 of her own MPs) - move forward to negotiate future trade arrangements with EU, but May loses her majority, perhaps forcing a leadership election or a general election, or both.

2. Give in to the demands of the DUP and Eurosceptic MPs for no special treatment for NI - high risk of Brexit talks collapsing.

3. May comes up with more cash and other political concessions with which to bribe the DUP (who gnash their teeth for a while before reaching agreement "for the good of the whole UK").

Northern & Southern Island already have several bespoke cross-border arrangements in place as part of the Good Friday agreement.

After May has hosed the DUP down with cash (again), Scottish, Welsh and Cockney complaints will be straightforward to bat away...
