"Bit of a strawman there"

"We" doesn't mean everyone obviously  it just *seems* to be a majority opinion.

Not sure the majority has much of a view on many things.

Then democracy doesn't exist in your world.

Do I really have to add .....of those that have an opinion.

Democracy certainly exists in theory, in practice I have not seen much of it about over the last few years, certainly not the democracy of an informed electorate.

An informed electorate has never existed, well they are are informed but mostly with what people want them to hear, but that is normal again. Nothing is perfect, we work with what we have got and maybe try to improve it.

But for all the people trying to improve it twice as many are looking for ways to use it to their advantage.

As Churchill said, “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” George Bernard Shaw.

Or, as H L Mencken put it:

'Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it, good and hard'
