While we are on Graeme Edge this always rang for me as well

Be it sight, sound, smell, or touch,
There's something inside, that we need so much.
The sight of a touch, or the scent of a sound,

For me this always rings at this time of year.

When the white eagle
Of the North is flying overhead
And the browns, reds and golds
Of autumn lye in the gutter, dead

Remember then the summer birds
With wings of fire aflame
Come to witness springs new hope
Born of leaves decaying

As new life will come from death
Love will come at leisure
Love of love, love of life
And giving without measure

Gives in return a wondrous yearn
For promise almost seen
Live hand in hand and together we'll stand
On the threshold of a dream

From the equally excellent Moody Blues album. Great stuff Doc.

A Merry Christmas to all members and their families plus a healthy & prosperous New Year.

Best wishes to everybody here for the New Year. With luck I'll be seeing some of you here in Burton Upon Trent when I've arranged a bake-off.

I remember Marstons Pedigree from years ago, at least it had some flavour, apart from the usual bitter sour piss taste or normal bitters.

Might be! Marstons brewery is about 3 miles away and the National Brewery Centre 0.7 miles away. I recall an excellent tour of the Marstons Brewery a couple of days after my finals exams. The fresh stuff in the tasting room was superb. Sadly the old medication means no more beer - unless I fancy spending a few days adjacent to the nearest bathroom.
