'Articles about HiFi by NVA designer Richard Dunn'

Make the article titles helpful to search results, e.g.

'How to improve the sound quality of your hifi speakers'
'How to tackle the poor mains quality to your hifi system'
'Hifi Myths and Forum Bullshit'

The articles that are already on the nvahifi.co.uk site can also be incorporated in this section. These articles will perform well in Google search results and mean that people sepend at least several minutes on the forum even if they only visit for that article alone. When visitors spend longer on the site, especially on their first visit, Google upgrades the value of the content...and pushes the site up the search results.

Would have the additional benefit of being a visible reference section for forum visitors - which means fewer repeat questions from newbies.

Some excellent ideas savvy - I first started reading forums in the hope of getting advice on improving my system either with little or no investment.

Search terms like those above would have led me here earlier.

I actually came on here as a result of seeing on e-bay (looking for cables at the time) and then reading Richard's views on hifi topics.

I agree:
1, What Paul wrote is exactly what should be done. If you don't feed the search engines with data, you will remain hard to find.
2, Now it is very difficult to find this forum. More to the point (although the administrator was very helpful in the end): it took me 4 days to register, and it was not my fault. I'm afraid that on the 4th day I was a real drag...

Prefix the HFS domain name Awesome Audio? It wouldn't be a lie that's for sure.

*EDIT*

This sounds better and should put HFS on the first page of a web search but I'm no web expert...

I think the title should include something on the lines of sound quality being the overriding consideration. This would help distinguish NVA from some other brands where where SQ takes second place to brand name, justifying high prices and huge mark ups, to attract purchasers who like to willy wave, ie many on PFM.

The 'Site Title' I referred to in my earlier post is a short set of words (4-8 words depending on length of words) that is inserted into the HTML on the site index page). It is NOT the name, url or description of the site. Think of it as a set of key words that tell Google what the site is. All we are trying to do with the SIte Title is to tell Google that HFS is a HiFi Forum run by NVA designer Richard Dunn. The Site Title displays when you hover over the browser tab, for the homepage of the site at, the top of your browser. The Site Title is also used by Google as the title for individual search results.

The Site Description is, like the Site Title, inserted into the HTML code. Think of it as a key sentence that tells Google what the site is all about and why browsers might want to visit. The Site Description is where we can explain what differentiates HFS from other forums.

Google uses a combination of the Site Title and the Site Description to decide if the site should feature in the search results for any given search request. Other factors, such as how often people click on your link, how long they spend on your site, and how many pages they view, then contribute to the score that decides how high Google pushes your link up the search results.

None of above is rocket science, and it is free to do.

Here are 2 examples:

Image

In the AOS example, above:
URL = theartofsound.net/forum
Site Title = The Art of Sound Forum
Site Description = Hi-fi forum for discussing any aspect of hi-fi; vinyl, turntables, amplifiers, cd players, DACs, loudspeakers, cables, supports and more.
Google has also started to display frequently visited links in the search results: Forum / Private Exhibitions / Analogue Art / The Gallery

Now, compare our own site:

Image

URL = hifisubjectivist.org/
Site Title = not submitted to Google so nothing displays
Site Description = not submitted to Google so nothing displays
2 of the first 4 results returned are for other forums (What Hifi and AOS)
