It's been a good decade for me. Gave up work early in 2013, did a lot of travelling, did an MA and then a PhD. My wife got her MA just before mine, and my elder daughter got her PhD the year I got my MA and is now established in academia, having published her first book in 2017. A lot of ill-health I'd suffered during previous decades seemed to go away once I'd left work. I also lost a couple of stone though not attending conferences with free food and lots of booze.
As another Joe once sang 'I can't complain, but sometimes I still do'.

Well done Joe, I think travelling a lot more will be my stepping stone before moving away. I originally planned to retire at 55 but that didn't work and in my late 50s work gave up on me before I could give up on work 
I remain positive though, my physical and mental health is good, my family are doing well and there's no shortage of interesting subjects to occupy my time, this and numerous other forums are examples, in fact most days time fly's by far too fast.
