Radio 1 have announced that they will no longer play the original version of Fairytale of New York, by The Pogues w/ Kirsty MacColl, as one of the words in the lyrics is now considered to be offensive. It's going to be hard to find something to go into that line in place of it, though.

Ha, ha! It made em chortle when I read the story. I'm sure Shane intended no upset, annoyance, resent or attack. The BBC's action to the lyrics is by far more offensive to radio1 listeners. Anyway how can a bundle of sticks be so offensive?

This, to me at least, is the funniest thing to come out of the BBC/Pogues saga.
