CUBIX PRO
I thought I would start this thread to chronicle the construction.
A brief description.
A three section (3 separate speaker cabinet) speaker with the bass drivers acoustically coupled internally in what became widely known as Isobarik, but had been done before Linn. So instead of two drivers as in the Sara and Isobarik these have 3 drivers coupled. Usual simple 3.3mfd cap and padding resistor on tweeter and doped bass driver with no crossover.
Now the new part, built into every one is a TSS amplifier with the heatsink in the back panel.
As with all the Statement amps the power supply is external.
Now this is just one side of the top unit of the Cubix Pro, but uniquely it can be used on its own and the second and third units can be added later. Each layer is £5k so the full system is £15k. Sounds a lot but for what you get at Linn or Naim it would be £100k.
As the build progresses it will be become more obvious what I mean about them.

Re: CUBIX PRO
I love the idea of being able to build up the speaker in sections. It makes them a real-world proposition for many of us.
As they are both amp and speaker would I be able to trade-in both my A80mkII & my Cube 1's against a pair?

Re: CUBIX PRO
Oh dear, just when I thought I'd stopped spending money!
Mind you, I would need to change my LS6 speaker cables for interconnects too wouldn't I ?

Re: CUBIX PRO
Is it the way the picture is taken or are they not Cubes any more? You'll have to call them Cuboids.
All you need to do is stick a streaming device with blutooth in them to have a go at the yoof market.

Thanks for the update Doc, ive been shouting for one for a while now.......
Looks like one hell of pair of active speakers, Marks a lucky lad indeed..
As you say 15K is bloody good value considering the materials, time, and effort it takes to build em.
I look forward to more updates and a full review in due course, bet the buggers will sing.... May need some running in though.

Re: CUBIX PRO
The amp has taken up internal space, so it is extended down a bit.terrybooth wrote:Is it the way the picture is taken or are they not Cubes any more? You'll have to call them Cuboids. :

Re: CUBIX PRO
The point is Jammy these are not active speakers, they are passive, they just have power amps built in. Active means an amplified electronic crossover using unity gain op amps, horrible things IMO. I much prefer a quality passive crossover and to make it as simple as possible and do most of the job mechanically.jammy395 wrote:Thanks for the update Doc, ive been shouting for one for a while now.......
