Group consciousness

Unread post by beyourself »

Group consciousness is an interesting phenomenon to observe, when you are not part of it.
Fear, hostility, ignorance and closedmindedness to those who do not conform the group, rule the day.

So far this forum has been a microcosm of the wider collective Human concsiousness.

It's Sunday, a day of rest. Trolling isn't allowed by law until tomorrow.

The 'Group Consciousness' of HFS is mostly an openness and curiosity to what individuals can bring to it, through their own experience and experimentation.

When you have a viewpoint and can explain what and why you do what you do, then there will be people here who will try it out for themselves to see if it works - and thank you for it if it does!

You appear to be inviting us to jeopardise our equipment by attempting something foolhardy - I do not intend to blow any output stages until one of the several designers or technical experts here tells me that it is safe to try hooking both outputs of an amp to a single speaker.

Unfortunately there is an undercurrent of defensiveness and hostility in the forum world - and the 'Group Consciousness' will act defensively if it perceives a threat.

Tell us EXACTLY what you are doing with your installation or go away.

If it looks like fish and smells like fish then it probably ain't sausages. :snooty:

Group Conscience is at best cod social psychology. Try googling it. Lots of references to Alcoholics Anonymous and not much else. In endeavouring to develop some sort of psychological or sociological analysis of what is going on here, I would suggest there are firmer theoretical bases from which to start.

You are part of the group. If you have something meaningful or enlightening to offer...and you can back it up,,,then crack on. Nobody is stopping you.

"When questioned, deceptive people generally want to say as little as possible."

" Truthful people, if challenged about details, will often deny that they are lying and explain even more, while deceptive people generally will not provide more specifics."

Balance of probabilties. What's more likely? That beyourself has been 100% honest and open in everything he's said on this forum and that there has been an hfs group culture of "Fear, hostility, ignorance and closedmindedness"? Or that beyourself has not been totally honest and open and that there has been fair comment on his untruthful statements?

If this is true, then the OP is not only a rejection of the expressions of the 'group consciousness' of this forum (which I think is a load of bunkum) but also a rejection of 'the wider collective Human consciouness'.
