If we see a film we want to watch on live TV these days we "time shift it" and do something else for half an hour (our box stores the last two hours) and then we can fast forward through the ads.
I often wonder if there's a tacit agreement between the companies as to when the ads run because channel hopping seems to find nothing but ads on the other channels too!

Some '30 minute' programmes are only 18 minutes long when you deduct the ad time. 3 lots of ads in 30 minutes FFS

Unless you watch the bbc , then no adverts = no programmes .
