Mains Ext Block

Unread post by Hemmo1969 »

In prep for my BMU arriving in the next couple of weeks I dug out and old (was trusty) heavy duty mains ext block, it has four sockets on the front of a metal cased strip.

Having a look inside though and I can see drawbacks as it’s switched and fused but also have this in line to the sockets?? Can anyone help as to what it is and what it might do??

Worth taking out all the guff in here or just buy a better one?

I use an Olson four way distribution block - there is one on eBay at the moment, no bids 3 days to go.

I got mine from eBay a few years ago for about £20, screwed to wall and forget about it. I like the solid and simple construction and it is made in UK.

It's an RF filter, see here GFHF10 Multi Stage Filter with Earth Li ... xburgh EMC.
From the data available it is intended where RFI is a problem, you almost certainly don't need it, unless you run an HF set for fun.

I use a 6 way Olsen too. Took it to bits tonight to isolate the neon prior to my BMU arriving. There is no filters or switches, just good quality solid cables with an earthed case.
