Re: Ask a designer
Slinger, I’m having a bit of an analogue love-fest at the moment so not using my digital stuff. You are welcome to borrow my cheapo Chinese dac and psu. These are the items recommended to me by the Doc. You might be a bit surprised when you hear them.....

Re: Ask a designer
Much appreciated, Stemcor, but I've actually got more DACs than I know what to do with at the moment, including the Chinese Cheapo. I've just bought, and have settled on, an SMSL M8 to replace the Bushmaster Mk1, which replaced the SMSL Sanskrit 6, which replaced...well...you get the picture. And that's only the main 'downstairs' system. I'm also using an SMSL Q5 on my PC downstairs. I've got another Sanskrit hooked up to the bedroom/studio PC, as well as a TEAC UD-H01 in my 'NVA' system upstairs. I'll do some hunting around to find the most compatible LPSU I can for the M8. I've emailed the manufacturer so I won't take a chance on anything until I've heard back from them. That's assuming they understood what I asked, and I can understand the Chinglish reply of course. Thanks again for the offer though, it's appreciated.Stemcor1990 wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 6:10 pm Slinger, I’m having a bit of an analogue love-fest at the moment so not using my digital stuff. Re: Ask a designer
It's me again. I need some clarification, please.
I have a DAC I want to power which is currently running on a wall-wart rated at 9v/1.3A and I want to replace that with a linear power supply.
Here's the bit I'm getting hazy about.
The LPS is rated at 30VA so dividing that by the 9v gives me 3.3A That 3.3A is the maximum current my DAC can draw, should it need to, rather than a constant current the LPS will try to deliver to my DAC just before it blows it up, right?

Re: Ask a designer
As far as I know you can connect a 100A and you will be OK as your DAC only takes what it needs
but I have been proven to be wrong ;]
