Philips CD 751 or 753. Or the rebadged Marantz version of these. The last one I bought cost me around £30.

An older "battleship build" DVD player can give good sound, and some will play SACD and DVD Audio as well.

I got a Musical Fidelity E600 for £30 on eBay
It was listed as not working
I’ve replaced the laser at £5 and it worked.
There are several ‘dodgy’ components that give it intermittent faults that I’m in process of replacing, it’s worth it as a project but have set myself a £££ limit otherwise it’s not a cost effective purchase
Good sound and level of connectivity/ features
Analogue Source -

Amplification Nva 30vdc mono blocks
Speakers Lii Audio F-15 in Open Baffle; Ls6
Weiduka AC8.8- for digital sources

A big thank you to everyone who replied and to Dan & Zebbo for their very generous offers. I started out with the idea of wanting use my old NVA kit for non vinyl music in my home office and as is the way with good forums I have had my eyes (soon to be ears) opened up to fresh thinking. As a result I now have a CXC transport and a Topping D30 heading my way and they are going in to my main system and I am going to get a used budget CD player for my office based on the suggestions in this thread. Thanks again Paul

I would recommend this option.

I previously used a CXC with a Beresford Caiman SEG DAC and it was an excellent combo that better a lot of players at a lot more money :)

Paul

While I doubt it would interest you, I could have a Musical Fidelity NuVista 3D for sale. Upgraded (rebuilt according to) John Samson (JS Audio) a couple of years ago. It would come complete with a top of the range Russ Andrews power Kord and cryo treated fuse. I'd be looking for about £900.00 - but open to offers close to this.

I've owned the player from new and it's never been raced or rallied
