The WireWorlds are "on the way." They were posted on Monday, 2nd class. I really wish I could have afforded a pair of AudioQuest Carbons to match the cable going into the DAC though. I'll be keeping a watch on the second-hand market and if I can upgrade the WireWorlds to AQ Carbons I'll do it in a heartbeat.
I honestly can't quite believe hearing myself, discussing the relative merits, and differences in sound quality from various USB leads, but I'm now a believer after conducting tests using five or six cables of differing quality. I'm currently using my Chinese Nordost-a-like until the WireWorlds arrive, and for just over eleven quid from AliExpress although not a genuine world-beater it certainly outclasses the Oyaide I had in place originally

Found this test/review on the Audioquest USB cable range. The Carbon comes out pretty well. I did have the Cinnamon for a while but that was a few years back and I will view it differently nowadays.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
The cost of the tooling required to do a proper job is prohibitive, unless you are selling several hundred.
It could, just about, be done by hand but it wouldn't look like a professional product.

A warning from the AudioQuest official website about fake products:
If you see AudioQuest-branded products being sold for “too-good-to-be-true” prices, the chances are very good that the products are counterfeit. Be particularly wary of AudioQuest-branded cables being offered for unusually low prices from China and Hong Kong, especially on auction or bid sites.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
The ones to watch out for at the moment seem to be the AudioQuest Vodka cables from China/Hong Kong, they're all over eBay. I have complained to eBay about several of them.Fretless wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 1:11 pm A warning from the AudioQuest official website about fake products:

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
Everything used to be so much more simple. I have the same rack as forty years ago. Then it contained a turn table, tuner amplifier and cassette deck. Now it contains a number of small boxes associated with the digital source with associated cables, phono stage, preamplifier and mono blocks. The CD player and cassette deck, far bigger than the digital boxes and Phono 1 have gone.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
Just had a visit to my local Hifi shop. Been going there for 20+ years and the owner is friendly (always a cup of coffee), knowledgeable and not inclined to rip off his customers.
He is also a dealer for both Audioquest and Inakustik products. Discussing my current USB investigations he said that he recommends AQ cables for those wanting a 'warmer' sound and the Inakustik for a more neutral character. He did say that the AQ Carbon USB is an excellent cable for the price.
He then went on to show me something else which has me very intrigued. Have to do some informative digging about on this - catch you all later.
