I've used Fing for a while now. Very useful, especially for the IP addresses for all my streaming devices.
I use the Network -> LAN Devices page on my router, which is also my DHCP Server, to find MAC addresses and IP addresses of all devices in my home network.
Makes sense to me. Go to the device that dishes out the IP addresses to find out IP info in a network. With that device being the DHCP Server.
I prefer to keep my computers and network lean and mean. Less is more. So Fing can go finger itself, as far as I'm concerned.
Cisco business switches, like the nice 8 port jobbies you guys have been buying also come with commands for looking up info on connected devices, such as "Show Mac".
If I'm right then the EE 8switch is a Chord Company rebadge job on the Bonn N8 switch that I use.

Very interesting. It does seem to be a rehash of the Silent Angel. I don't think the reviewer has done the switch any favours with his reperence to "LP12 tunefullness upgrade". The Cisco 2960 he compares it with is the S version, I have the G version. It did bring about an improvehment, but nothing earth shattering. This changed this year when I connected the Cisco to the Network Acoustics Eno filter. I reported favourably about this after a few days but it has got better and better. I think it took more than a hundred hours to fully run in. It costs more than the EE/Silent Angel, is very small and passive, but what a difference. These devices really do improve SQ. I note that gospel of ASR sceptics make unfavourable comments of the EE following the review.

The recent discussions prompted me to do something I wish I had a long time ago as I have poor mains. I dug out a lengthy unused extension cable from a cupboard, plugged it into the BMU and connected the router and NAS. The improvement was greater than I expected in the same areas as when the hifi was connected to the BMU over three years ago. There is a greater sense of space providing a more enjoyable music experience. Obviously a lot of electrical muck had been entering the ethernet connection. What I have described is with the A20. I expect the improvement will be magnified with the upgraded A80s.
I am contemplating what further benefits will arise with an audiophile ethernet cable or a device such as the Silent Angel. It is all about eliminating muck interfering with the digital signal.
A lot of water has passed under the bridge since I posted this and there has been a lot of improvements to my digital set up, most relevant a better router with a superior PS. The lead to the extension was close to the speaker cable which is not a good thing. Recently I disconnected the extension lead and plugged the router, NAS and first switch into a near by socket no where near speaker cable. Cannot say that there is a difference in SQ, but there is definately no deterioration and it is tidier. I will therefore leave it this way. Ethernet cables and the cable from the Sky dish are near the speamer cable but there is little I can do about this.

I have learned today that you cannot water cool the power supply for a Netsmear switch!! (It fell into the central heating header tank)
Hmmm, sounds like an excuse to get a couple of Cisco switches ... Wonder what we took out at work this year??
Oops
If you dry it out thoroughly before use it will likely be ok.
