Well I reckon Mr. Slinger has nailed it, I go with his system choice.

It's like you're being asked to imagine your fantasy woman, and all you can do is think about one of Del Boy's blow-up sex dolls.
Exactly.

Just trying to inject a bit of fun and maybe some discussion. You could have gone along with it like CN did or not bothered af all

Somebody please remind me why I even bother :obscene-hanged:
I'm sorry karatestu. It's not your fault.

Imagine if we were living in Roman times. And there was some stupid fashion for all slaves to be one legged to stop them running away. And one armed to stop them causing too much damage when they started fighting. And they all had big flatulence problems. And for them all to be under 4 feet tall, so that they could sleep in small cots (but due to the flatulence problem they'd ideally want to be given a lot of space)
There may well be buyers that would reject these stupid fashions.

If we were talking hifido, I might be able to put together a system I'd be happy with - apart from the cost.
And then there's ebay. And right place right time aquisitions, such as skips outside radio stations in the 1990's. Or theatres getting renovated.
And there's DIY, which can be the equivalent of Frankenstein. Cherry picking all the best parts to stitch together into a fantasy creation. Except it's only bloody hi-fi, so there's nothing sinister about it.

My RS fantasy would be whatever is their best waterproof Bluetooth speaker. I would need that for my hot tub and swimming pool parties which are to be attended by all my favourite celebrity crushes.

Turntable - Technics SL-1210G always wanted to try a DD deck so why not.
Amp - Rotel RA-1592MKII liked them 30 years ago. Still way too much electronic jiggery pokery going on, but RS don't seem to sell straight amps..
Speakers - Mission ZX-5 Again always had a soft spot for Mission speakers though these do look rather hideous.

To be honest I'd definitely try the Technics, the rest quite frankly I wouldn't be too fussed about.

That said this looks interesting - Sennheiser HD800S with HDV820 headphones, but I suspect the AP10 would outdo the Sennheiser effort at an amp for much less.

What did surprise me was how un premium some of the RS stuff is, I've always seen them as a pile it high sell it cheap, usually last years model outlet. Clearly they've moved on since I last visited a shop in ooh about 2014 - 15 ish.

As I remarked at TAS recently, "Cambridge Audio has come a Hell of a long way since the days of my old (1995, Mike Creek designed) A1 integrated, and its reputation for being Julian Richer's pet brand." It appears to have taken Richer Sounds with it.

Well if it's a fantasy system, so I'll play

Source - I too would go for the Avid turntable

AVIDHIFI DIVA II SP £4,540

Amplification - I'm a sucker for that valve sound with Marshall guitar amps so

Unison Research Reference PRE (Cherry) £15,500
Unison Research Reference Power amps (mono blocks) £31,000

Speakers

AVIDHIFI EVO THREE (£15,000)

So £65,540 for a single source system ...

Cables

AudioQuest Rocket 33 Speaker cable(£450)

Interconnects

Chord Company Signature Tuned Array XLR (£1000)
