Re: Cube Speaker Stands?
I drove over to Stokenchurch this morning to collect my plinths from the stonemason; they are slate and 3cm thick. Initial impressions are very good. A few photos below for your interest, together with one of my lovely new A40s which continue to delight. Thanks Doc!

Re: Cube Speaker Stands?
After much experimentation, isolating cube from the stand is the way forward (IMO)
There are a myriad of solutions out there, The Doc was using a puck devise to great affect.
I had some anti vibration material originally used to isolate a ton of generator, cut into 1 1/2" squares and placed between cube and stand.
My theory is; decoupling speaker allows it to ring like a tuning fork or crystal wine glass, held by the stem it will "ting", when struck, further up you get a "thunk".
I have a little of the material spare if someone wants to give it a try !

Re: Cube Speaker Stands?
I have, but that was before I bought the new stands (at the point they were resting on top of my old floorstanders).Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Have you tried them closer to the back wall.
One of the (minor) reasons I wanted the plinths is because it makes positioning so much easier without having to deal with the spikes. I have spent the last hour trying different positions and the Cubes are now closer to the table (30cm either side) and 20cm from the rear wall. No toe in.
I now completely understand what you mean when you say the owner must activate the rear wall. The soundstage just exploded into my face. Much better bass. Insane. And to think that I was genuinely happy before that...I have so much to learn.
