Dan, my daughter's fiancée who is a paramedic once told me that a stroke is like a heart attack of the brain. They come in many forms from the mild to the leathal. The great thing about cognitive therapy is that it works. I've been through a type of therapy process and can confirm its success. In today's world we all want results now (or sooner). Be patient, work at it and things will slowly improve. There will be good days and not so good days; laughter and tears but at some point you will look back and appreciate the progress you have made.

I'm looking forward to the "I came out of the pub and...." stories :)

There has been many a time when i could have done with a wheelchair to get home from the pub. Crawling is not so dignified, takes ages and hurts the old knees too much.

DQ - Can't you get one of those electric ones that keep running into people. Great fun, especially with a shopping trolley attached at the front in a supermarket..

You could put Anna in the trolley on the way back from the pub.

not until they decide I wont walk again, whilst it remains likely that I will , its a bloody cheap push one.

Nah, it's a cunning NHS plan. They give you a crap wheelchair which costs less so you have to work harder so it helps your recovery. No motorised chair means you can't drive into people/trees etc. It's a win-win !! 😀

This week/month we are learning to bear weight on my right side and walking 1 step forward and backward with my left arm holding the bed.

Apparently I have forgotten my right side exists and thus I need to learn to bear weight. We have learnt to stand now we have to trust it to move

Today, I forgot how disabled I was, thought I could nonchantly change direction and ended up in a pile with several bits of me bleedin.

I'm spending the rest of the day in my hospital bed under orders
