Saw the Black Star Riders last night. They have come on since the first album when they were an off shoot of Thin Lizzy. "The boys are back in town" was the only Thin Lizzy song in the set. Good to see Scot Gorham still going strong. A word for the first band on, the Amorrettes. Proof that there are some new good young rock bands. This was the first gig of the tour and, after the reception they received, I think Gun were a bit apprehensive about following them. I think that is why the PA was turned right up. My ears were still ringing this morning.

At every concert I go to, even to see young bands, the audience can best be described as mature. It is the same audience as the 80s. A lot of the younger ones appear to be their children and in some cases look like grand children. I think that this is associated with the decline of the British hi-fi industry. MP3 and Beats headphones are more than adequate for for the rap/hip hop the youth of today listen to.

Another step back in time. Saw Anderson, Wakeman, Rabin last night (Yes in all but name). Very enjoyable and Jon Anderson is still in good voice. The set was mainly early material, but the lengthy Awakening was the real highlight for me. Rich Wakeman still has the cloak and took a stroll into the audience with a portable keyboard.

I seem to be the only one keeping this thread going.

Saw Thunder last night and they put on a good show which they filmed. Think Cardiff was the biggest venue on the UK leg of the tour. They could have made it really big but hit the scene a bit too late. Like many others they were swept away by grunge.

Gave SLF a miss on this tour as it was so close to AWR. Saw them a few years ago and in 1978.

Saw Dream Theatre for the first time last night. Far from a sell out, but an enjoyable evening. They played "Images and Words" in is entirety as it is 25 years since its release. They ave made better albums, but as it was a very long set it did not really matter.

Imelda May at Cambridge corn exchange.
In the past I have never really liked the acoustic, but they did an excellent job last night.

Superb group, Imelda was full of energy, engaging and has an excellent voice. Well worth getting tickets if she appears near you.
