Donald Byrd 'A New Perspective' (1964)
https://youtu.be/Q_qOYlrlfFk
An unusual Blue Note release featuring a tight and smokin' jazz combo combined with an 8-piece gospel choir. The results are uplifting and foot-tapping. Donald Byrd went on to become a founding father of soul-jazz-disco and here is already starting to stretch the musical borders in a thoroughly enjoyable way.

Fish - Weltschmerz
If it is his last album, as he says, he is going out on a high. A shame Covid put pay to the tour.

Haven't heard any of Fish's later work - although what I read about 'Weltschmerz' did intrigue me.
Might have to give it a listen-to sometime.
Meanwhile on Planet Jazz:
Thelonious Monk 'Monk's Dream' (1963)
Monk's first release on major label Columbia. After years of struggling in the shadows for acceptance he was finally getting the recognition he deserved.
This is a solid and swinging set that oozes confidence and playfulness.
Groovy, baby!
